Reflection:
I found that interviewing children is challenging. After 5 interviews, this child proved to be the most open and provided the longest answers. This is interesting considering his background. He is classified as a level C reader, level I being ideal according to his teacher. He also has a problem with language, specifically understanding language. The fact that he enjoys reading is interesting knowing that he has difficulty with it. I found it very telling that he enjoyed Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Everyone enjoys books they can relate to. Perhaps, if he had access to books that were on his level that he happened to enjoy, he could build his reading skills.
On the subject of writing, he expressed distaste in the process. I witnessed firsthand that he has difficulty with it. I wonder if he was provided various opportunities to respond to his writing he might find some more enjoyment and as a result attain more skill as a writer.
